Using AI help
AI help suggests copy, alt text and subject lines, and checks a campaign before you send it. It works inside your template: AI fills in forms, it never writes or changes your developer’s HTML. Every suggestion respects the field’s character limit, your brand voice and your restricted terms.
Look for the sparkle button. It appears on text, rich text and link text fields, on image alt text and beside the subject and preheader. AI help is available to everyone who can edit campaigns, when the workspace has it turned on.
Copy Assistant
Section titled “Copy Assistant”Click the sparkle on a text, rich text or link text field to open the Copy Assistant. Choose what you want:
- Rewrite: a fresh take on the same message.
- Shorter: the same message in fewer words.
- Add urgency: a stronger reason to act now.
- Brand voice: rewritten to match your workspace’s voice guide.
- Ask for a change…: your own instruction, up to 300 characters, such as “mention free delivery” or “make it sound less formal”.
Review the suggestion, then use it, refine it with another request or try again. A suggestion only replaces your text when you choose to use it, and you can undo it like any other change.
Suggestions are checked against the field:
- Character limits: if a suggestion is too long, the assistant tries once more. If it’s still over, it’s shown with a note.
- Restricted terms: words your workspace never uses are avoided. If one slips through, it’s highlighted.
- Rich text keeps to the formatting the field allows and never adds new links.
Alt text
Section titled “Alt text”Click the sparkle beside an image’s alt text box to get a description of the image, written for people using screen readers. You can also generate default alt text for an image in the media library.
Subject line and preheader ideas
Section titled “Subject line and preheader ideas”In the campaign’s Settings, click the sparkle beside the subject or preheader for five ideas based on the email’s content. Pick one to use it, then edit it as you like.
AI check
Section titled “AI check”Click Check with AI in the Send test or Export dialog for a review of things the template’s own checks can’t catch:
- offers or prices that don’t match across the email,
- dates that have already passed,
- vague link text such as “click here”,
- spelling and grammar,
- tone that doesn’t fit your brand voice,
- restricted terms, including any in the template’s code.
Findings are listed by part and field, each with a link to open it. Nothing to fix. means the check found nothing. Click Check again after making changes.
AI actions
Section titled “AI actions”Each suggestion or check uses one AI action from your workspace’s monthly allowance, including suggestions you don’t use.
| Workspace | AI actions |
|---|---|
| Free trial | 25 in total |
| On a plan | 150 a month for each editor seat, shared by the workspace |
The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC). If you need more, contact us. Viewers don’t use AI help and don’t count towards the allowance.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Modular Mail sends the text needed for each request to our AI provider to generate the suggestion. We don’t store your prompts or the copy sent; we only count how many actions each workspace uses.
When AI help isn’t shown
Section titled “When AI help isn’t shown”- An Owner or Admin has turned it off in AI settings.
- The workspace has used its allowance for the month.
- The workspace’s trial has ended and it isn’t on a plan yet.
